Throwback Monday: Novak Djokovic wins the Masters Cup in 2008. He and Rafael Nadal are the only players with 25 Masters titles.

Sunday, Oct. 18 was a great sports day as Novak Djokovic, Aaron Rodgers’ Green Bay Packers and the New York Mets all continued to roll and Colin Kaepernick’s San Francisco 49ers continued to improve on the comeback trail.

Nole in particular is having an amazing run as ESPN noted:

“He became one of three men to play in all four Grand Slam finals in a single season in the Open era, joining Roger Federer and Rod Laver.

“With wins in Beijing and Shanghai, he surpassed $16 million in prize money, the highest ever by a player in a single season.

“He has also reached 13 consecutive finals dating back to January, second only to Federer's 17 straight finals in 2005-06.”

The only sour note in the day was the Indianapolis Colts’ loss to the New England Patriots in what was billed as the Deflategate rematch. Colts’ fans wore deflated football hats and carried signs that read “Tom Brady: I Have Your Phone” while Indy bakeries sold what looked like tasty chocolate Deflate cakes.

What was really disturbing was the way announcers Al Michaels and Cris Collinsworth pooh-poohed Deflategate on NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” as if it were nothing but a snoozerama of a labor dispute. It wasn’t. It was about cheating. Isn’t that important?

By the way, Brady eschewed NBC’s traditional postgame interview for key victors.
